The numbers, available for almost all games on Steam, are part of their market insight solution, aimed at understanding market trends and building business cases.

Most other Steam performance estimation websites rely on the Boxleiter methodology, consisting of multiplying the number of reviews by a specific factor, or a limited sample of game ownership.
