After a year and a half of relentless development, we are proud to announce that 2 Cubs Studio title “Sophistry: Love & Despair” will arrive on Steam this December 9th 2021 at 12pm.
The game will be available in digital format for Windows, MacOS, and Linux users.
Sophistry: Love & Despair is the first of six episodes scheduled by 2 Cubs Studio for this multi-series game, as well as their first title.
Entirely developed and funded by the two members of this independent studio, Sophistry: Love & Despair is the result of a labor of love and dedication in providing unique quality experience and true visual novel experience.
About Sophistry: Love & Despair
The story revolves around six main protagonists (3 males and 3 females) with intertwined lives, each with different backstory and aspirations. In each of the six episodes, you incarnate one of those protagonists and experience the story through their eyes.
In this first episode, you take on the role of Cherryl Darcey, a young hard working person driven to support her family through their current financial crisis. Dreaming of a simple trouble free life, unexpected events will shake her life, and through your choices, will that one becomes a dream or a nightmare?
Several things are immediately noticeable in setting Sophistry: Love & Despair apart from other classic visual novels:
The game is entirely voiced in English by 27 professional voice actors (including some from noticeable games or animations such as Persona 5, FairyTail, or ToraDora!)
All the characters are animated using Live2D technology and with lip-sync.
Dialogues are displayed using speech bubbles rather than the classic text box at the bottom of the screen.
The art style is closer to Korean manhwa than manga or comics style.
Upon playing, several additional features surface:
46 achievements for players who wish to fully explore the story content of this episode.
A dynamically generated branch tree that helps you see what content you may have missed without spoiling you the upcoming paths.
Possibility to save the choices made during a play through to carry over to the next episodes.
