MUNICH – April 26th 2022 – Katharina Meck and Elena Schulz support Mimimi Games as new Office and Communications Manager, respectively. In her role as new Office Manager, Katharina keeps an eye on the whole office administration and is in charge of the team calendar, coordinating appointments, as well as human resources or workplace equipment, among other things. Meanwhile,

Elena joins Communications Lead Matthias Kraut for the PR and marketing efforts at the independent game studio Mimimi Games in Munich, and supports the team with planning and executing the communications strategy for their upcoming stealth strategy game Codename Süßkartoffel.

Elena Schulz – from gaming journalism to game development

Before joining Mimimi, Elena worked for the gaming website and magazine GameStar for seven years as a freelance writer and staff editor. There she was responsible for many big blockbuster games such as Elden Ring, which she recently reviewed. During her time at GameStar she also wrote feature articles on current topics such as the open world trend or Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard. In addition, with formats such as her monthly insider tips, she focused on unknown games and often wrote about details exciting to her,
that are otherwise rarely focused on:

"A great game doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be more than the sum of its parts. I always try to find an interesting new perspective on games and highlight the little details that make them special - even a bad game can have something to offer this way. I want to help people to understand and discover these wonderful little things for themselves.", Elena explains her fascination for video games.

"Mimimi Games are a talented and ambitious team who develop great games. Long before I started here, I was a fan of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and Desperados III, which is why I am now very excited to contribute my own strengths to Codename Süßkartoffel."

By joining Mimimi Games, Elena also hopes to gain a new perspective on game development, which she has previously only been able to observe from the outside. Her game art degree also gives her insights into digital art, game design, 3D modeling or animation, and helps simplifying the communication with the team, as well as understanding the internal development processes. In her spare time she works on her own creative projects - for example her YouTube channel The Last Pixel, where she continues to analyze games.

Katharina Meck - from the German Federal Armed Forces to Mimimi Games

In eight years as a soldier in the German Federal Armed Forces, Katharina also gained a lot of experience. She completed her basic training there and studied business and organizational sciences with a focus on human resources management in her master’s degree before she started to work as a project officer on an e-learning platform for the medical service.

The successor to studio manager Anna Maria-Magull not only has organizational talent, but also years of experience in managing complex organizations and projects. That sounds very serious, but you won't miss out on the fun with Katharina, because she firmly believes that success and fun at work are inseparable. So a game studio is the place to be for her!

However, video games are something Katharina has to get to know first - before starting her job at Mimimi Games, board games were the only thing she associated with gaming. But that's not a problem at all for her:
"It is very important to me to work in an industry that brings people joy. That's why I chose a games studio in the first place. But after my time in the German Armed Forces, I also really wanted to join a young, small, agile company with a personal touch. So, of course, Mimimi was an obvious choice."

Maybe video games will soon conquer Katharina's spare time. But currently, she loves to spend it with performing the acrobatic dance sport Aerial Hoop, as well as teaching students as a trainer.

Codename Süßkartoffel is the next stealth strategy game from Mimimi Games, which the studio will self-publish for the first time. With the game, Mimimi is also creating a brand-new and original IP. The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and Kowloon Nights support Codename Süßkartoffel on the financial side.
