Highlight: On February 13th 2023, Monster Guide inc.., a Korean film studio and a game producer, launched a demo version of the interactive game ‘Love Too Easily’ on the game platform Steam. The game is based on as-if scenarios from romantic comedy K-dramas (Check it out here).

What sets the game apart from others, is the various elements, such as a range of mini-games and quick time events (QTE), that differentiate it from existing Full Motion Video (FMV) games, which allow users to make their own stories and endings.

‘Love Too Easily’ is a story of Yeon-woo, tracking back memories and collecting clues to find out what happened last night. As she seeks to find the missing puzzles, she gets close to the truth. The fact that her target to chase after changes every time users start a new round, allow many different experiences from a single game.

Monster Guide inc. plans to release the official version of ‘Love Too Easily’ in the first half of 2023 as a PC game for Steam and a console game for PlayStation 4 and 5.

Body

Interactive games that change stories based on users' choice, fall under the genre of Full Motion Video (FMV), which offers users with experience to make their own stories and to choose the next course of actions by the game characters. Many global media companies like Netflix and Sony have already recognized the potential of interactive games as commercial success and are investing heavily in these.

‘Love Too Easily’ is a FMV game, based on a romantic comedy K-drama. The story begins with Yeon-woo, kissing someone at a bar she went out to with her friends, and waking up the next day with a complete black out on whom she kissed last night. What is worse, she's brought someone else's phone. In order for her to continue zen life at college, she must find out whom she kissed and what happened last night.

Unlike conventional FMV games where users simply click on few given options or items to choose from, ‘Love Too Easily’ offers lots of mini-games that feature famous K-drama moments while users make their own stories. Through these mini-games where users may help Yeon-woo collect clues in her messy room and prepare to get out, users can get immersed in the story more readily.

Monster Guide inc. has worked on "Love Too Easy" since 2020. Its CEO, Stella Oh said in an interview, "We are pushing the boundaries of traditional romantic comedy K-drama and FMV games as a genre. Even though the game starts with a simple story of a girl falling for a mystery man, it is upto users to identify and decide who she ends up with."

You can try out the demo version of "Love Too Easily" on Steam platform from February 13th, 2023. The demo version is free, and the official version will be released through Steam(https://store.steampowered.com/) and Playstation Online Store (https://store.playstation.com/) in the first half of 2023.

Monster Guide Inc.:

Monster Guide Inc., a Korean indie game maker and independent film studio, developed "Love Too Easily" from 2020.
Seeing the change in views towards Korean films and dramas in the Western world, from independent art films to commercial films following success of "Parasite" and "Squid Game", we decided to create a Full Motion Video(FMV) interactive game based on stories from Korean movies or dramas and developed a 'scalable interactive game conversion tool' that converts videos into games. Our next business model after "Love too Easily", is to convert many loved Korean movies and dramas into interactive games, into PC games, mobile games, and console games. Monster Guide is an official partner of Sony Entertainment and has big plans to expand its influence in the FMV game genre.
