Hamburg, April 5, 2022: The location initiative Gamecity Hamburg grows their team with the addition of Project Manager Amanda Förtsch. She focuses on the implementation of networking events as well as funding and support programs for the Hamburg games industry and the Games Lift Incubator program. The Games Lift Incubator was launched in 2020 as a funding and support program of the City of Hamburg especially for young game studios and founders. It offers founders comprehensive support in the form of start-up financing of 15,000 euros per team, a three-month workshop and mentoring program, places in a co-working space and time contingents with coaches, consultants and a PR agency specialized in games.

Amanda Förtsch most recently worked for the Hamburg-based event agency Super Crowd Entertainment, where she was responsible for numerous clients and projects from the games and entertainment industries. Among other things, she was project manager for the development of the Gamecity Online Hub (hub.gamecity-hamburg.de), where Hamburg's games landscape can be explored in a playable digital world. She gained extensive experience and built up a large network of contacts in the gaming world through her work for the MAG! community convention and the Hamburg Games Conference.

"In my previous career I have already seen many impressive ideas and impulses from the Hamburg games industry and I am very happy to support them as part of the Gamecity Hamburg team – specially to bring young founders to the next level with the Games Lift Incubator. I am passionate about bringing people in the games industry together. I’m happy that I can contribute to this with the development of new events and formats for Gamecity Hamburg" explains Förtsch.

The application phase for the Games Lift Incubator 2022 starts in May. In addition to start-up funding of 15,000 euros, the teams will receive coaching, mentoring and workshop programs as well as places in a co-working space.

Further funding opportunities through Gamecity Hamburg

In addition to the Games Lift Incubator, Gamecity Hamburg supports developers and games companies from Hamburg with its Prototype Funding program. Each year, 400,000 euros are available for games projects from Hamburg, of which up to 120,000 euros in funding can be applied for per game.
Two funding rounds will be held in 2022. The application phase for the first round runs until April 11, the second round starts on August 29.
