Game technology and entertainment-themed restaurant company uWink has announced the introduction of a proprietary game credit system designed to facilitate customer purchases of the restaurants' casual and social games via microtransactions.
uWink says the system is also aimed to increase customer loyalty by allowing for portability and redemption of game credits during future visits. Through the system, customers purchase "credits" on uWink's restaurant tabletop terminals, which can then be stored in a virtual account to be spent on games at any time.
The game credit software also integrates with uWink’s restaurant point-of-sale system, allowing for game credit purchases to be charged on the customer’s bill, along with food, drink and merchandise purchases. The system provides for discounts for credits purchased in bulk.
uWink CEO Nolan Bushnell said, "We are very pleased with customer adoption of our new game credit system. Customers are now buying more games and are coming back to redeem unused credits. The new software enhances uWink’s ability to deliver unique revenue streams.”
