Insolvency practitioners David Ruben & Partners have announced that all employees of Argonaut Software Ltd. have been laid off, as of Friday October 29th. The move, affecting the company's Edgware-based office and in continuation of issues that had already closed the firm's Sheffield branch, was made as a result of a lack of funds needed to continue the company’s work. Argonaut Software is one of three trading subsidiaries of Argonaut Games, plc. which were placed into administration earlier in October. The other two subsidiaries - developers Just Add Monsters and Morpheme – were acquired by Argonaut founder and former CEO Jez San last Friday. No buyer has been found for the London-headquartered Argonaut Software, though, and it now seems that any employees who were waiting for this resolution will attempt to find immediate employment elsewhere. Argonaut, originally founded in the early '80s by Jez San, was involved in the development of the Super FX chip and software titles Star Fox and Stunt Race FX for the Super Nintendo back in 1993. Other notable titles included Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos for the PlayStation in 1997, and recently released, much-delayed Malice for the Xbox and PlayStation 2.
