Genemation Ltd, developer of 3D face synthesis and character modeling tools, has announced that its facial computer vision technology, which enables the real time capture as well as efficient facial modification, is now available for content creation on mobile phones. According to Genemation, real-time facial feature tracking technology will enable the company to create new solutions for image rights owners and brand marketeers in a variety of fields, including mobile video games and social networking websites such as MySpace or Facebook. The company also notes that its end to end server side solution, called GenMobile, can be used in conjunction with video game console camera technology, such as Sony's EyeToy or Microsoft's Vison camera, as well as standard digital cameras. Some of the changes to faces that Genemation’s technology can produce include the automatic placing of faces in other images, superimposing faces to replace other faces, virtual make-up, virtual aging, and synthesized expressions. Genemation officials note that GenMobile does not require any input other than the importing of a photograph. Once uploaded to the GenMobile server, the technology takes seconds before returning or forwarding the finished product. In addition to this, Genemation officials note that the GenMobile solution can be scaled to handle large traffic volumes, and stock or customized server applications can be built to suit clients requirements and integrated with other new media platforms.
