Officials from the Orlando Science Center (OSC) have announced that the venue has teamed with sponsor Full Sail Real World Education and multiple partners to host Otronicon, a 10-day exploration of electronic gaming and simulation, planned for January 12-21, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. The event follows 2006's premiere event, which organizers note saw more than 16,000 attendees. This year's event aims to entertain guests with multiple levels of activity, including displays, games, competitions, seminars and demonstrations that bridge the gap between video games and the simulation industry. Otronicon will feature a workshops presented by Full Sail representatives concerning a variety of game design topics, as well as presentations covering the use of serious games and simulations by such companies as Lockheed Martin, Raydon Corporation, and even the military. Other serious games being featured at the event include Dimenxian for the PC, which aims to teach algebra through traditional first person action adventure gameplay. The event will also feature a number of more traditional video games, including daily tournaments that will allow attendees to compete in popular games such as Halo, Madden NFL and Dance Dance Revolution. More information on the event, including how to sign up, is available on the Otronicon website.
