Real time particle effects technology company Fork Particle has announced that it has joined Microsoft's Tools and Middleware Program for the Xbox 360, giving developers access to Fork Particle's Visual Effects SDK middleware solution. According Fork Particle, the technology gives developers the tools necessary to create high quality particle system special effects. The solution includes the particle effects authoring tool Particle Studio, Run-Time particle simulation engine, and embedded Live Tuner for live update in-game editing capability. The firm's particle effects technology has already be adopted by a number of video game companies, including Electronic Arts and MMO developer NetDevil, as well as Mac Doc Software (Empire Earth II), Linden Lab (Second Life) and the recently founded Big Rooster. Commented Fork Particle CEO Noor Khawaja, “Fork Particle is committed to raise the bar for particle system effects in video games. Our professional and easy to use toolkit lets game developers focus on special effects production to bring out the ‘Wows!’ in their products.”
