At a Gamasutra-attended event this week, Konami pulled the veil back -- just slightly -- on the next
Silent Hill game, which is in development by Czech studio Vatra Games.
Konami showed only brief teaser trailer of the game that gave little details of a plot, setting or storyline, focusing on a befuddled man making his way through an empty town. But the publisher did promise that "the silence ends" in June, presumably referring to this summer's E3.
Vatra Games, whose parent is UK-based Kuju, is located in Brno, Czech Republic. The studio is also behind
Rush 'N Attack Ex-Patriot, the upcoming remake of the classic arcade game
Rush 'N Attack.
This is the first
Silent Hill game that Vatra Games will undertake. Beginning with 2007's
Silent Hill: Origins, Konami moved the series' development from internal Japanese studios to external Western studios.
The last
Silent Hill game to release was 2009's
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, developed by UK-based independent studio Climax Group.
Shattered Memories was a reimagining of the original 1999
Silent Hill, adapted for Nintendo Wii and later PlayStation 2 and PSP.
