Organizers of the 2006 Toronto Independent Games Conference announced that the event will take place from August 31 through September 2 in Toronto at the George Brown College, at its Casa Loma campus. The educational conference and trade event for game developers will feature an emphasis on third party independent developers, as well as on hobbyists and students. The event is billed as a venue that offers educational, business, and networking opportunities for both game development professionals and those who are considering a career in the game development industry. The event will feature a track focused on the business and legal aspects of independent game development, which will include a roundtable discussion by event coordinator and programmer Chris Charabaruk. Other scheduled tracks include one focused on programming that will feature a presentation by Julian Spillane titled “Enhancing Detail Of Real-Time Non-Photorealistic Rendering Using Relief Mapping”, and an as-yet-unnamed audio track presented by industry veteran Tommy Tallarico. For more concerning the event, including registration information and sponsorship opportunities, interested parties can visit its official website.
