It’s no secret that the gaming industry has had a lot of hype brewing with uproars from the release of Pokémon Go and the conclusion of the 2016 DOTA 2 World Championship. While these two hot topics represent the mobile and PC segment of gaming, let us move our focus to the console segment, which is expecting to generate it’s own hype with incoming releases and updates.

Newzoo has reported that the console gaming segment represents the largest chunk in the global gaming market in 2016 with 29% of the share and $29 billion U.S. dollars. Leading the global games market is the APAC region with China, Japan and South Korea generating majority of the revenues. However, the gaming industry in Southeast Asia continues to grow at a rapid pace, pulling along the growth rate for the entire APAC region as well.

With plenty of players in the console segment of gaming, there are only three big names that are undoubtedly known across Southeast Asia; PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. As is in games, these big brands compete  to be number one in the industry as well as number one in consumers’ hearts. iPrice has analysed the data to produce an infographic to see who takes first place in Southeast Asia.
