Independent game developer Telltale Games has announced that its landmark episodic adventure game series Sam & Max will return this Fall for a second season. Sam & Max: Season Two will again follow the comedic exploits of the crime fighting duo first created by Steve Purcell in a 1987 comic book, though the tandem are probably best known for their starring role in LucasArts’ 1993 PC title Sam & Max Hit the Road. As with the previous season, which ran from Fall 2006 through Spring 2007, each downloadable episode of Sam & Max will be first released over Turner’s GapTap service before being made available on Telltale’s own website. However, unlike earlier episodes, Telltale notes that it will release each episode from Season Two on its website “the next day.” Few details have been announced so far, though Telltale's design director Dave Grossman notes that the team is “keeping the general structure and gameplay, and focusing on telling farther-reaching, crazier stories." He also adds that player feedback has been considered in the development of this second run of episodes, leading to unspecified changes and improvements. "Season One was a great success, but it's just a starting point for us," says Telltale's CEO Dan Connors. "The episodic model presents so many opportunities to innovate and engage the audience in brand new ways. Just wait until you see what Telltale and GameTap have in store with Season Two."
