The 2006 Eurographics Conference, the main conference of the European Association of Computer Graphics, has announced a competition for attendees, called "Graphics Meets Games." The object of the competition is to create a small, independent, real-time 3D demo game with a new and unusual form of interactivity highlighting a graphical effect. Those submitting are encouraged to center their efforts around "creating a small, self-contained real-time 3D demo game which exhibits some novel and interesting form of interactivity for the user/player with a graphical effect or effects. Show us something we have not seen in a 3D game, either through a new effect or a new use of a known effect or combination of effects." The conference organizers continue: "We are especially interested in interactivity based on some sort of physics simulation; this need not be confined to earths physical reality (think for instance low-gravity, or magical physics, zero-friction liquids, balls that multiply on collision etc.), but preferably it will have some kind of dynamic component." Finalists of the competition will get to see their demos displayed on a large-screen exhibition at the conference, with one winner being chosen by an audience vote during Eurographics 2006. Full submission details, including detailed, technical requirements are available at the conference website. All entries are due on May 28th. The 2006 Eurographics Conference will take place from September 4th to 8th in Vienna, Austria, at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
