Nintendo has announced that this week's regular Wii Shop update will see the addition of three new classic games to the channel's offerings for Virtual Console, all available as of 9:00 AM PST on December 3rd.
In keeping with most other releases during the Christmas gift buying season the games are of a lower profile than previous months, with the most well known being Sega Genesis title
Eternal Champions.
A reaction to popular 2D beat ‘em-ups of the time such as
Street Fighter II and
Mortal Kombat, the 1993 game still has a small but vocal fan base. The T for Teen rated game supports 1 to 2 players and is available for 800 Wii Points ($8).
Zanac was original released for the NES game in 1987, as a vertically scrolling shoot ‘em-up from Japanese developer Compile, who were also responsible for retro favourites such as
Aleste and
Blazing Lazers. The game is rated E for Everyone and is available for 500 Wii Points ($5).
The Dynastic Hero for the TuboGrafx-16 CD-ROM is one of many variations of the
Wonder Boy franchise, whose underlying gameplay has been licensed to a number of different companies. This version is based on
Wonder Boy in Monster World for the Genesis, with a new hero and back story. The game is rated E for Everyone and is available for 800 Wii Point ($8).
