Japanese Charts: Yakuza 3 And Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce Lead Busy Week
Sega has enjoyed its biggest success yet with the Yakuza franchise in Japan, as the second sequel on PS3 leads a busy week of new releases.
Sega has enjoyed its biggest success yet with the Ryu ga Gotoku (aka Yakuza) franchise in Japan, with the second sequel selling 372,000 units on the PlayStation 3. Although both games debuted at number one, this direct sequel, set in contemporary Japan, performed even better than samurai themed spin-off Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!’s 181,000 units. Neither game has yet been confirmed for a Western release. The second fastest seller of the week is what will be known in the West as Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce on PSP. The latest in Koei’s evergreen series sold 219,000 units, becoming the most successful iteration so far on the platform. In a busy week for new releases the next highest new entry is Namco Bandai’s One Piece Unlimited Cruise: Episode 2 at number four. The latest anime tie-in for the Wii sold a total of 45,000 units on its debut. New at number five is Namco Bandai’s Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou 2 on Nintendo DS.
