Blood of the Werewolf

Twas the night before release, when all through the dev house

Not a keyboard was clicking, no wacom, no mouse.

The review codes were sent with screenshots to spare

The game filled with love right up to the last level, Lair.

The programmers were nestled all snug in their code

Working on ports to ship down the road.

Designers in the forums and I spinning marketing rap

Trying to settle our brains with a bourbon night cap.

All of the sudden from my email there arose such a clatter

My mouse clicking frantically to see what was the matter.

Closing unneeded windows my cursor flew like a flash

Why all this email? F5 to refresh my cache.

My inbox all white from the newly arrived mail

Was it good, was it bad, my nerves are so frail.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear

But Google Alerts about the game, my heart pounds with fear.

'Blood of the Werewolf Review' they all say

The codes didn't go out that long ago did they have enough time to play?

One after another my email dinged and they came

I took a deep breath, did they like our game?

Escapist, Joystiq, OXM, and IGN, the first four

Game Informer, Gamespot, Polygon, and more.

The top of the list my cursor does crawl

My brow starts to perspire as I click 'Open All'.

Did they like it or hate it my mind starts to fly

How far did they get, how much did they try?

Do they understand what we were going for what we tried to create?

With their scores these strangers determine our fate.

And then, I peered, at the first line of the review

"An action platformer with bite' they enjoyed it, phew

"There's definite depth to the core campaign"

A success, I should stop reading now if I expect to remain sane.

In the moonlight she's all fur, from her head to her foot,

Revenge will be hers through monsters, blood, and soot.

A crossbow and wolf powers ready at her back

With your help she will save her son, the last of the pack.

The reviews go on, a lot of love, a little hate

We did our best to make the game honest and straight.

Difficult, frustrating, too hard, some of them say

We want games that will challenge, so we made it this way.

It's OK to die in games, that is where we came from

The auto health and zero knockback has made us weak and numb.

We want to push our reflexes, times, and frustration

Learning and mastering leads to elation.

Dracula, Hyde, and Frankenstein will attack and make quite a rumble

The platforms will trick you as the fall and they crumble

But they murdered your husband and stolen your child

Compared to that horror the pain in your thumbs is quite mild.

We know releasing the week of E3 is a crazy deed

But trust me, we are indie, it's out of need.

Regardless of what they say or regardless of what we sell

We have shipped on a major platform and we are happy as hell.

So if you like to test yourself give Blood of the Werewolf a shot

It's a labor of love, something some of the big guys are not.

Selena will exclaim as she hits the moonlight

Game your ass off, slay the monsters, and to all a good-night.
