After many months of searching, at DevilishGames we have finally found a publisher for our project Onirike. Because of the COVID, we could hardly show the game in physical events and try to convince the publishers in person as on previous occasions, so this time we decided to create a huge list and contact them through their website.

If you've never done it, I'll tell you that you shouldn't be afraid to contact them, they're normal people (and some of them quite nice). Most of them have a section on their website to send them a pitch, so don't be ashamed, just keep in mind a few things:

  • They receive dozens of games every week, so it may take 2 or 3 weeks for them to answer, even many will never respond to you (we've had about 40% of response ratio).

  • Many will reject you, don't take it personally, it doesn't mean that your game sucks (necessarily). Maybe the genre of your game doesn't fit in their catalog, maybe they already have too many games for the next few months... or maybe they already have a similar game planned.

  • Some will tell you that the state of your project is too advanced and prefer games in earlier stages, others will tell you just the opposite. My recommendation is to send it as soon as you have a vertical slice (although obviously, it depends on what you're looking for).

  • As I said before, publishers are very busy people, so they'll appreciate it if you're brief in describing your game and its main and unique features. A gameplay trailer or video will also be helpful.

  • It is important to be very clear on what you are looking for (publishing, investment, ports, etc...). In case you need investment, it is important to tell them where you will spend the money on.

  • Show them your previous projects, tell them about your team's experience and get ready to be gossiped about on Twitter, LinkedIn, and look at press reviews, users, and sales of your previous games.

With a little luck, patience, and work, you will find the ideal partner to launch your game to the market. Below, I am leaving a list of 84 publishers of video games for PC and Consoles in no particular order:

Perhaps it's not 100% updated, as we made it several months ago. If you find any errors or want to add any more publishers, please leave a comment. Finally, if this has helped you... you can thank us by adding Onirike to your wish list or by buying one of our games on Steam.
