2011's Holiday Game Line-Up - What Gets You Excited?

A list of the big titles being released this holiday - which are you most excited about?

I don’t know about you, but I am excited about all the great games being released over the next 3 months starting this week.

In the game industry, games are normally released weekly on Tuesdays.  All of the upcoming weeks until Christmas seem to be the best ever. I’ve never seen so many excellent studios release AAA huge budget titles in a short window of time.

These titles will have a wide range of genres and  platforms.  Most of these titles have been in development for years and we learned about them at E3. Some of the titles will be ending a great storyline with characters that we have grown fond of.  These story lines will reboot the franchises over again for their next iteration.  Some of these games may disappoint but I beg to differ.

In many of the previous years, publishers would rush out a lot of crap titles to capitalize on expensive licenses for the holiday season.  They finally realized that consumers do not want games that play on rails or crappy ports of each other.

We will have a lot of freedom in purchasing our favorite games with the upcoming schedule.  Some  of these games might trick us happily into a compelling addictive story line where we can’t put down the game which isn’t a bad thing. Either way we will have a great video game season for 2011.

All of the games below follow the criteria above.

Rage – October 4

Serious Sam 3  October 18

Batman: Arkham City October 18

Battlefield 3  October 25

Uncharted 3 November 1

Call of Duty 3 November 8

Metal Gear Solid HD November 8

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim  November 11

Saints Row the Third  November 15

Need for Speed: the Run  November 15

Assassin's Creed: Revelations November 15

Zelda Skyward Sword; November 20

SWTOR  December 20

I know I am missing few titles and I am covering most gaming platforms. Every one of the games listed above is going to be a possible candidate for game of the year awards (GOTY) at the end of the year.  I hope you have all the systems and enough money to purchase these great games. If not, you might be waiting a while before cheaper game of the year editions are made.

What Games are you looking forward to this year?
