Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher developer CD Projekt has established a new mobile studio called Spokko.
The company was formed within the Polish developer's Capital Group, and is currently working on an unannounced project for smartphones.
CD Projekt holds a majority stake in the fledgling studio, with the remaining shares being distributed to "key personnel" overseeing the development and conceptual design of the mystery project.
Spokko will be led by Maciej Weiss and Rafal Staszewski, who co-created the brand and pitched the idea of the studio to the bosses at CD Projekt, and is being backed up with the "creative and commercial muscle" of the CD Projekt Red dev team.
Both Weiss and Staszewski have been given the freedom and creative autonomy create a "largely independent" studio with its own unique identity.
"We have known the people behind Spokko for several years. They approached us with an interesting idea based on one of our brands -- an idea we decided to invest in," commented CD Projekt Group president Adam Kicinski.
"We want to expand our business with innovative concepts and solutions, and the vision presented to us by the Spokko team represents an entirely novel creative angle."
