Newsbrief: Super Mario Odyssey sold 510,000 units in Japan during its first week on shelves, according to the latest numbers from Famitsu (via Gematsu).

That total includes sales from download cards and Odyssey console bundles, but doesn't take standalone downloads into account.

It's a number that means the hat-hurling platformer has amassed more week one sales in the region than any other 3D Mario title in history.

Of course, the game has also been doing well on a global scale, with Nintendo yesterday revealing Odyssey has sold over 2 million units worldwide since launching on October 27.
