Alias|Wavefront announced today at GDC that they have ported Maya 3 to Linux. Maya Builder, Maya Complete, and Maya Unlimited will be available for Red Hat Linux 6.2 and higher, and will begin shipping this week. The port came at the behest of numerous requests from the game development and visual effects communities to bring Maya to Linux. Maya is currently available for IRIX, Windows NT, and Windows 2000, with a Mac OS X version on the way soon. Pricing for Maya for Linux will be the same as on current platforms.
