Nintendo’s Wii Fit occupies the number one spot yet again in the UK sales top 40, racking up its fifth consecutive week in the individual platforms chart. Additionally, the entire top five is made up of Nintendo titles, including new entry Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir. Part of Big Fish Games’ series of popular casual games, MillionHeir features a series of visual puzzles in which players must scour screens for hidden objects. It is the first time any of the seven games in the series have been released on a portable format other than mobile phones. However, sales in total were down across the board this week, with the UK market yet to record an overall weekly increase in 2009. This is largely due to the lack of prominent new releases, with no other new entries in the top 40 this week. As such, new releases such as Square Enix’s Chrono Trigger on Nintendo DS, Nintendo’s New Play Control! version of Pikmin on Wii and 505 Games’ Cooking Mama 2: World Kitchen all failed to chart. The Wii version of EA’s SimAnimals did enter at number 33 though, a week after its original release. In the separate all-platforms chart, which combines all SKUs of a game into a single chart position, Wii Fit hung on to the top spot for its fourth week, while EA’s FIFA 09 swapped places with Activision’s Call of Duty: World at War at numbers two and three, respectively. Overall, in the top 40 chart by individual platforms, there are 14 titles for the Wii, 10 for the Xbox 360, nine for the Nintendo DS, six for the PlayStation 3, one for the PC and none for the PSP and PlayStation 2.
