A page constructed by episodic adventure game developer Telltale Games clearly points to a new game -- or series of games -- based on the artwork of comics artist and animator Graham Annable, known for his "Grickle" books and short films. The teaser site asks, "What is the Mystery of Scoggins?" and promises, "Learn More May 4th," set against artwork in Annable's distinctive understated style. Telltale just launched the first episode in its latest season of adventure games, Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse, after concluding its well-received series Tales of Monkey Island. Annable has a previous Telltale connection: he once served as a creative director for the San Rafael, California-based studio, after spending a decade as an animator at LucasArts alongside numerous other current Telltale employees. He now works for the animation studio Laika in Portland, where he contributed to Laika's stop-motion feature film Coraline as a storyboard artist. Throughout the last decade, Annable published two print volumes of his Grickle work, and was instrumental in creating Hickee, a series of compilations of comics from various San Francisco indie cartoonists. More recently, he has gained notice on the internet with his ongoing series of YouTube-hosted Grickle shorts, which often exhibit a dark humor contrasting with much of Telltale's lighter comedic output to date.
