A new survey by consumer research firm Experian has found that PlayStation 3 owners skew the oldest of all three consoles - with appeal at its highest levels to those 44 and older, also tracking low gamer activity in... needlework and antiques shopping? The survey found that on a scale that found the Wii easily outranking the other two consoles amongst the 18-24 year olds but declining steadily as the age range grew higher, Xbox 360 ranked best with 35-44 year olds, with the PS3 showing a marked jump with the next-older group. The survey also mapped some peculiar trends amongst PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners, including the findings that a number of statements ring similarly true to both owners - "real men don't cry," "money is the best measure of success," and a slightly higher percentage of PS3 owners agree that "home decor is of particular interest to me." The study also found that PS3 and Xbox 360 owners were, perhaps unsurprisingly, more likely to read video game magazines and, perhaps less so, to enjoy go-carting. Ranked low on the activity list amongst gamers: needlepoint and quilting, and shopping for antiques.
