Quantic Dream Wins Best New IP, Independent Studio Prize At Develop Awards

Heavy Rain dev Quantic Dream won the Best New IP and the Independent Studio awards at this week's European-specific Develop Awards, joining Rocksteady and Hello Games as this year's only multi-award winners.

Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream won the Best New IP and Independent Studio awards at this week's European-specific Develop Awards in Brighton, joining Rocksteady Studios and Hello Games as this year's only multiple award winning game developers of the show. London-based Rocksteady and its game Batman: Arkham Asylum picked up prizes for Best Use of a License of IP and In-House Studio, while Guildford's Hello Games (Joe Danger) won Best New Studio and Micro Studio. Quantic Dream, which is located in Paris, and Angry Birds developer Rovio, of Helsinki, were the only development houses in the "Studios" or "Creativity" categories of the awards not located in the UK; Develop is a UK-based trade publication. Black Rock Studio (Split/Second), FreeStyleGames (DJ Hero), and SCE Cambridge (LittleBigPlanet PSP) were also nominated for various awards in the "Creativity" and "Studios" categories. Brothers Andrew Gower and Paul Gower received special recognition in the form of the Development Legend award for the success of their studio Jagex, responsible for the popular MMO RuneScape, and engine developer Unity Technologies picked up the Technical Innovations and Grand Prix awards for its contributions to development.
