The International Game Developers Association has selected a group of promising university students to receive Game Developers Conference Student Scholarships. The winners receive full access to all sessions, roundtables and keynotes at the 2006 GDC, which is being held from March 20th-24th in San Jose, California. [The GDC, like Gamasutra.com and Game Developer Magazine, is owned by the CMP Game Group.] Students also get an opportunity to take part in discussions and network with industry professionals. A broad range of universities and students were chosen, with a few international winners included in the 25 recipients: Leo Galway of Northern Ireland's University of Ulster, Travis Weiren Ho of the National University of Singapore, Juergen Musil of Austria's Vienna University of Technology, and Mansur Ahamed Nazimuddin of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad will all receive the opportunity to attend to the San Jose-based conference. Several other students from California schools won't have as far to travel, such as Anouk Bachman from San Francisco State University; Morgan Allen Hill from the Academy of Art - San Francisco; Courtney Soest from Art Institute of CA Orange County; and Duncan Thum from University of Southern California. The other winners are Gillian Gus Andrews and Matthew Griffin from Columbia University; Ashley Bennett and Emily Carol Scrivner from Full Sail; Matthew Raymond Billock from DePaul University; Eric Webster Brown and Michelle Pun from Carnegie Mellon University; Elizabeth M. Chung from Pennsylvania State University; Julia Detar from the Cleveland Institute of Art; Robert Matthew Florio from The Art Institute Online; Eric Peter Foster from the University of Advancing Technology; Eric Francksen from Viterbo University; Michael James Haka from Michigan Technological University; Danielle Oprean from East Tennessee State University; Megan Perry from Hudson Valley Community College; and Gabriel Smedresman from Yale University.
