Xperia Arc, Acro Getting PlayStation Certification In Japan

Sony Ericsson's Xperia Arc and Acro will be the next Android phones to receive PlayStation Certification through an upcoming software update from Japanese mobile service provider NTT DoCoMo.
Sony Ericsson's Xperia Arc and Acro will be the next Android phones to receive PlayStation Certification through an upcoming software update from Japanese mobile service provider NTT DoCoMo. Though the software updates will be applied this week, the phones won't get access to the Android-based PlayStation Store until sometime next month, Sony announced. The update will allow users to download and play digital copies of select classic PSOne games, as well as new games tailored for the mobile PlayStation Suite. Both phones are also available in the U.S., though Sony has yet to announce whether a similar upgrade will be applied to the phones globally. Sony recently bought out the remaining 50 percent stake in mobile partner Ericsson, bringing products including the PlayStation Certified Xperia Play fully under the consumer electronics giant's umbrella. The recently released Sony Tablet S and the upcoming, dual-screen, folding clamshell Tablet P are also PlayStation Certified. Last month, Sony Computer Entertainment President Kaz Hirai said the company was looking into expanding PlayStation Certification to third-party Android devices.
