Indie publisher Devolver Digital has stepped in to help out the GaymerX convention organisers, after NIS America reportedly dropped its monetary support for the show.
The GaymerX show has already been having money issues, with founder
Matt Conn stating earlier this year that the show cannot go on after this month's GaymerX2.
Now
Conn has told Joystiq that NIS America was due to pledge $3,000 to the GaymerX2 show that was held earlier this month -- however, he says that the company has now pulled out.
"I feel awful and betrayed," he noted. "We were already in dire straits, but we were really relying on this $3K to pay for our artists who came and to take care of some of the outstanding hotel bills. This just further puts a nail into our coffin if we don't figure out a revenue stream very quickly."
Subsequently,
Devolver Digital has stepped in to pledge the $3,000, and challenged other game companies to do the same. NIS America has told Joystiq that it is "trying to work with GaymerX so that we can resolve this issue as soon as possible."
