Activision Apologizes For Continued CoD Elite Service Problems

With access to Activision's newly launched Call of Duty Elite social stat-tracking service continuing to be intermittent, the publisher has apologized for what it calls a "rocky start" and pledged to fix things as soon as possible.

With access to Activision's newly launched Call of Duty Elite social stat-tracking service continuing to be intermittent, the publisher has apologized for what it calls a "rocky start" and pledged to fix things as soon as possible. Premium "Founder" members of Elite will automatically receive a 30 day extension on their subscription to make up for the service problems, and those who would like to sign up for such status will now have until the end of the month to do so, Activision said in a statement on the Call of Duty Elite status page. Though the problems with Elite don't affect basic multiplayer gameplay in Modern Warfare 3, released Tuesday, Activision said it "will not rest until Elite delivers the full set of features we promised you." "You're frustrated, we know it, and we know we need to fix it," the company wrote. "We are committed to Call of Duty Elite for the long haul and are working around the clock to resolve these issues." Activision says Elite's login systems were initially "crushed" by too many simultaneous login attempts around Modern Warfare 3's launch, and that "greater than expected demand" has been crashing servers since then. The publisher said it is limiting access to the service as it works to build server capacity and scale, which may cause long login times and problems displaying statistical gameplay data, though all such data is being recorded.
