Arrowhead's top-down PlayStation Network co-op game Helldivers is coming to Steam next month, but it's being published by PlayStation Mobile, Inc. -- rather than original publisher Sony Computer Entertainment.
The fact that Helldivers will see a Steam release is remarkable enough -- Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt took to Reddit earlier this year to explain to fans that the game would likely never come to PC because of Arrowhead's business relationship with Sony.
That the game will be the first Steam title published by PlayStation Mobile, Sony's recently-deceased mobile game initiative, is downright odd.
When reached for comment by Gamasutra, a PlayStation representative noted that PlayStation Mobile Inc. is now seen as "our off-console distribution entity, that initially published on mobile platforms," and thus it's responsible for Helldivers' PC debut.
However, the representative declined to state whether or not Sony intends to continue publishing games to PC and other platforms under the PlayStation Mobile brand.
