December 1st, 2021 - The 12th Annual Indie of the Year Awards have officially kicked off. 2021 has been a wild ride, and a big year for gaming as players rebound off of 2020, so it feels fitting to start a player voted search for the years biggest indie hits. A voting booth has been added to all indie profiles on IndieDB, and for the next four weeks gamers will vote to determine the top 100 games of 2021 (announced December 11) and then the overall winner will be announced shortly after Christmas.

Last year the community voted 33,603 times, which ultimately resulted in the toys-come-to-life HYPERCHARGE: UNBOXED take first place for player's choice, with mining-and-building sandbox Hydroneer nabbing second. They are joined by previous iconic winners including Minecraft and Rimworld.

From now until the close of 2021, join in the fun and help us to celebrate the highly creative and unique nature of indie games that now play such a big part in the overall games industry! There have been some huge releases this year, make your vote count and we look forward to seeing who will be crowned the 2021 Indie of the Year. For more information on the event including a live scoreboard and how to vote head over to the official awards page.
