TORONTO, ON – August 8, 2022 – The Red Bull Campus Clutch event series, whose 2021 iteration won Esports event of the year at the 2022 Canadian Game Awards, is once again set to give collegiate VALORANT players in Canada their first taste of international competition. The tournament will see teams from around the world competing in local qualifiers for a chance to hit the world stage.
In 2022, Red Bull Campus Clutch will have two rounds of online qualifiers open to Canadians. Qualifier 1 takes place on September 10th and will be split into two tournaments: one for Canada East, and one for Canada West. Qualifier 2 will follow suit on September 17, also offering two geographically divided tournaments. Participants can choose to enter either the East or West bracket, depending on their server preference.
The top 4 teams from each bracket, totalling 16 teams, will be invited to participate in an online, two day Canadian National Final on October 15/16 where the winning team will punch their ticket to an in-person World Final (at a to be announced location). The World Final will see competing teams from around the world facing off for the title of best collegiate team on the planet.
Red Bull Campus Clutch is open to all students over 18 who are enrolled in universities & colleges across the country. Teams of five can sign up to compete in Qualifiers 1 and 2, which are now open. The event looks to bring together Canada’s VALORANT community and participants are encouraged to join the Red Bull Canada Gaming Discord to connect, set up scrimmages, or even put together teams.
Prizing for each qualifier:
1st Place Team - $1000 CAD
2nd Place Team - $650 CAD
3rd Place Team - $350 CAD
Prizing for the National Final:
1st Place Team - (i) $2,000 CAD; and (ii) the opportunity for each player on the team to participate in the Global Campus Clutch Tournament Finals (the “World Final”)
2nd Place Team - $1,300 CAD
3rd Place Team - $700 CAD
World Final prizing is still to be announced.
2021’s tournament saw Canada’s team BTR make it all the way to the World Final in Spain where they competed against 12 of the best teams in the world for a shot at a grand prize of €20,000. BTR put on an impressive performance, tying for 3rd place in a tournament series which saw more than 25,000 students from over 50 countries compete by the time it was over.

About the Global Partners
