Nerd Monkeys closes HQ in favor of more flexible remote solutions

The game studio Nerd Monkeys, which was headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal, has now officially implemented its full remote work policy.
In 2020 it wasn't easy to forcefully transition the company from a physical office to a fully remote work from home solution, since then we've reached the conclusion that remote work and hybrid solutions for very specific circumstances allows for a more inclusive and diverse environment that doesn't automatically filter people geographically. It is also easier for us to hire talent and to bring in experienced people to our growing team.

With the games industry steering away from more traditional ways of working, Nerd Monkeys is looking to shift to a more creative, open, and free workplace strategy by prioritizing greater flexibility by working from home or using flexible office providers anywhere in the world.
Being able to travel more freely and without being constrained to always coming back to our headquarters is also part of the strategy for our new indie publishing branch. Visiting and meeting talented indie developers while touristing across the world is a strategy that both brings quality and diversity of games into our portfolio and quality of life.

The company has permanently closed its headquarters on its 9 year anniversary and has switched entirely to work from home and flexible office provider solutions.
What better day to announce this major change than our 9th anniversary? We are all very excited about this more official approach, and confident that in a year we will proudly celebrate a decade of game development with an incredible portfolio.

Nerd Monkeys was founded on April 1st of 2013, now referred to as Nerd Monkeys Studio, and Nerd Monkeys Publishing is a new branch of the business that started in 2020 dedicated to short games publishing.
