Berlin, DE - Kolibri Games, in partnership with carbon management partner Planetly, has successfully calculated its historical carbon footprint for the past two years and made voluntary contributions equal to that amount.

The calculations include direct emissions stemming from building use and server costs, along with indirect emissions which were generated through the time millions of players around the world spent playing the company’s titles.

As part of its sustainability initiative, first announced in August 2021, the company has worked to develop a holistic overview of its emissions sources and has already taken steps to limit its future CO2 output, including using green energy to power its new Berlin headquarters.

This climate contribution initiative is centered on investments into forest protection and biodiversity projects in the developing world. This initiative was born out of the company’s already robust corporate social responsibility program which until recently had focused on volunteering activities within the local community in the German capital.

Managing Director Guillaume Verlinden, upon announcing the climate contribution initiative stated, “This is an important milestone for the company, and we’re excited to have made our first contribution towards green initiatives aimed at protecting the environment. It’s just one small step, however, it underpins our commitment to playing an active role in developing a more sustainable approach to business and contributing to global carbon neutrality.”
