APRIL 6th – Today, two-person team Dead Drop Studios is excited to launch Outbreak: Contagious Memories across across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5 and PC via Steam.
Inspired by classics of the survival horror genre like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and like a brain burger with extra cheese, Outbreak: Contagious Memories is a true zombie B-movie game for the modern era.

The end of the world is nigh, and surviving it is going to take brains. In Outbreak: Contagious Memories, players step into the shoes of Lydia, one of the leftovers following a contagious virus that leaves the infected with an insatiable hunger for - you guessed it - human flesh. After being knocked unconscious, Lydia awakens in an abandoned warehouse as fellow survivors debate leaving her behind. Not one to be left helpless, Lydia takes charge, forging a path through crafty environmental puzzles and hordes of the undead to figure out a way for her and her fellow survivors to escape the city.

Outbreak: Contagious Memories is a massive step forward for a long running series by horror-obsessed developer duo Evan and Julia Wolbach, inspired by the games they loved in the 90's. As a result, Outbreak: Contagious Memories pays homage to, and builds on, classic tropes such as resource management, clever puzzles, and conveniently located notes that explain the game's lore in oddly specific detail!

Outbreak: Contagious Memories drops players right in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and invites them to fend for themselves, but not without a little help. Thanks to full support for 3rd person, 1st person and fixed camera angles, players can experience fear however they please. The game also features full co-op integration so that players can experience the nightmare with a friend by their side. [Continues below]

Outbreak: Contagious Memories continues the legacy of Dead Drop's long-running series in a whole new way, featuring tighter controls, a highly customizable visual experience, modern graphics with a suitably 90's aesthetic, and support for all major platforms.

Evan Wolbach, Founder of Dead Drop Studios said: “Outbreak: Contagious Memories is the realization of my goal that started the series: create a true spiritual successor to '90s survival horror games where intricate puzzle solving and intense combat come together. A true homage to the genre, you'll find cheesy voiceovers, cutscenes, gory combat, intense resource management and crushing difficulty. This has been expertly married with a visual style ripped straight from the '90s and coated with next-gen flourishes modern gamers will appreciate.”

Outbreak: Contagious Memories launches today on Xbox S|X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Steam, priced $29.99 / £22.99 / €27.99.

In celebration of the launch, Dead Drop Studios has released slick new merchandise for fans of the series.

About Outbreak: Contagious Memories

Outbreak: Contagious Memories is a send-up to classic 90’s horror series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill where your survival will be determined by moment-to-moment decisions, what you decide to carry, and how good you are at spotting conveniently written notes.

After being knocked unconscious, Lydia awakens in an abandoned warehouse as fellow survivors debate leaving her behind. Not one to play the helpless maiden, Lydia takes charge, forging a path through crafty environmental puzzles and hordes of the undead to figure out a way for her and her fellow survivors to escape the city.

Resources are scarce, is it worth that extra bullet to take down a zombie? Or maybe you should take a risk and try to dodge it. You will have to think on your feet and decide how best to approach every situation. A bullet saved is a bullet earned, but medical supplies are hard to come by in undead uprisings.

It’s a nightmare scenario, but you don’t have to go it alone, grab a friend and work together to escape the city in fully integrated co-op, and look at any scenario from the perspective that suits you with fully integrated 1st person, 3rd person, and fixed cameras. Escape the zombie outbreak your way!

With plenty of unlockable bonus content like Operation: Rabid Wolf, work with your friends or compete against them, whether it’s fighting through the city to rescue survivors, or to beat the main game in record time with nothing but your fists. With plenty of additional content to unlock, one run won’t be enough to see everything Outbreak: Contagious Memories has to offer.

  • Classic survival horror mechanics. Inventory and resource management, conveniently written and placed notes, backtracking and puzzles.
  • Full co-op integration, play through the full game solo or with a friend!
  • Integrated camera control, choose between 1st person, 3rd person, and classic fixed camera.
  • Hordes of undead, mutated beasts, and monsters with lots of extra teeth.
  • Unlock Operation: Rabid Wolf, an arcade bonus game where you fight through the city alone or with a friend rescuing survivors.
  • Plenty of unlockable bonus content and game modes.
  • Voice acting that’s almost cheesy enough to put in a sandwich!
