April 28, 2022 – FPS: First Person Shooter, an upcoming documentary with a cast of over 45 video game designers and experts, has released a new trailer celebrating iconic first-person shooters and their creators. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2021, the documentary is funding on Indiegogo until May 23 to give fans another opportunity to support this epic look back at nearly 50 years of history.

Now in post-production, FPS: First Person Shooter brings together an all-star cast of designers, artists, pro players, and industry experts to dive deep into the genre’s history. Fans will hear from pioneering creators such as id Software alumni (John Carmack, John Romero, Tom Hall, Adrian Carmack, Sandy Petersen, Jennell Jaquays, and more), Cliff Bleszinski (Unreal/Unreal Tournament), Warren Spector (System Shock, Deus Ex), Karl Hilton (GoldenEye, TimeSplitters), and Joe Staten (Halo series), among many others.

“First-person shooters are enjoyed by millions of players around the world,” said David L. Craddock, co-director of FPS. “Given the enduring popularity of classics from the ‘90s and 2000s, our film promises to be a fun trip through some of the greatest games and moments in this beloved genre.”

“I want to make this film an entertaining ride that recaptures the feelings of joy created by some of the most incredible virtual experiences of our youth,” said Chris Stratton, co-director of FPS, “and I'm excited to tell the stories of the pioneers who created them.”

“With 100+ hours of interview footage to sift through from a stellar lineup of contributors across some of the coolest games ever, I can't wait to dig into the script and to share these fantastic stories with our backers,” added producer and co-writer Richard Moss.

Other designers and experts featured in the film include Ken Silverman (Ken's Labyrinth, Build engine), Team Fortress co-creators Robin Walker and John Cook, Greg Thompson and Dave Lebling (Maze War), "boomer" shooter bigwig Dave Oshry, veteran programmer Becky Heineman, Jon St John (voice of Duke Nukem), Justin Fisher (Aliens-TC), pro gamers Dennis "Thresh" Fong and Amy “Athena/Valkyrie” Brady, and Evan Lahti (editor-in-chief of PC Gamer).

FPS: First Person Shooter is funding now on Indiegogo. Supporters can choose from packages that offer digital and physical editions of the film, collectibles such as posters, a “big-box” style package reminiscent of FPS games from the 1990s, mouse pads, and more: https://igg.me/at/fpsdoc.
