LONDON—8th December, 2021—Android game developers are seeing an average 10% boost in revenue by using Flexion’s multi-platform distribution service.

The company is announcing the figure after a review of its Q3 performance. Games which have been brought by Flexion from Google Play to other platforms have been hitting this landmark revenue figure in the last 6 months.

The top 5 games in Flexion’s portfolio are currently generating around US$600K each month, on average, in revenue additional to what they make via Google Play — a significant benefit of the multi-platform approach.

“The magic of it is that developers are seeing this jump in revenue without much effort,” says Jens Lauritzson, Flexion’s CEO. “Our software takes existing Android games and creates versions to suit additional — often hard to reach — platforms. A game created for Google Play, for example, can be brought to Amazon, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and ONE Store. Each one will represent a new revenue stream for a game developer but they will not have the burden of extra work in development or support.”

Flexion also manages user acquisition and a host of other services on the alternative app stores for developers.

Flexion’s portfolio includes big-hitting games. It already has 5 top-40 grossing games and a total portfolio of 27 games in the top 500, including World of Tanks Blitz. These numbers are based on Google Play rankings in North America and EMEA.

World of Tanks Blitz was created by MS-1, Wargaming, a leader in free-to-play massively multiplayer online games (MMO). With Flexion’s help the game was brought to the Huawei App Gallery and was available for the launch of the Huawei P40, last year. This device did not come preloaded with any Google apps and so making the game available on its native store represented a significant gain. Flexion worked with Wargaming to also launch the game on Samsung’s Galaxy Store, Amazon Appstore, ONEstore and Xiaomi Getapps.

World of Tanks Blitz is the perfect showcase for alternative distribution,” says Lauritzson. “It is a great partnership and one we are looking forward to growing further. Our model sees the game reaching millions of Huawei users that it might otherwise have missed. Yet the resources that Wargaming needed to commit were minimal, allowing the studio to concentrate on developing the game itself into a top grossing title.”
