STOCKHOLM - Apr. 28, 2022 - Your weapons. Your choices. Your game. In Blaston: Reloaded [TRAILER], the latest update to the hit 1v1 futuristic dueling VR game Blaston, Resolution Games is simultaneously introducing new ways to play and setting the stage for professional esports competition with the single biggest Blaston update yet, including a new weapon and seasonal mode, and the addition of an all-new system for weapons attachments that fundamentally changes the Blaston experience.

NEW GAMEPLAY: Weapon Attachments
Blaston has always embraced the spirit of customization by providing duelists with the ability to design and deploy unique loadouts for every match — but with the addition of weapon attachments, Blaston: Reloaded takes this experience to a whole new level and gives players the ability to personalize their arsenal in more detail than ever before.

“There’s always been a layer of strategy in Blaston specifically tied to the game’s weapon choices,” said Tommy Palm, founder and CEO of Resolution Games. “Being able to customize weapons is something our players have continually told us they’d like to see, letting them equip attachments that change the way they play. Today’s update answers that call while also positioning Blaston for professional esports competition, where weapon attachments will help to establish the unique play styles of Blaston’s professional competitors, amping up the excitement for spectators.”

Resolution Games has plans for weapon attachments across Blaston’s entire aggressive arsenal, beginning with 30 unique modifications across 10 different weapons in today’s Blaston: Reloaded update. Additional weapon attachments will be released in coming updates. This staggered approach will ensure that each attachment release maintains proper game balance, ensuring an optimal play experience for all duelists.

NEW WEAPON: Luma Bow + ‘Cyber Bow’ Skin
Blaston: Reloaded introduces a new weapon type with sharpshooters in mind. The game’s first two-handed weapon, Luma is a bow that challenges duelists to trade the flexibility of a free hand for a chance at archer-like accuracy and spectacular damage.

To celebrate the release of Luma, Resolution Games partnered with fellow Stockholm-based studio, Fast Travel Games, to release Blaston’s first-ever collaborative skin. Players can unlock the Cyber Bow skin, a weapon made famous by Fast Travel Games’ action hit Apex Construct. This skin will be made available to all Blaston players as a free gift through May 5. Following this, it will be made available alongside other legendary skins in the Blaston store.

NEW GAME MODE: Street Brawl
With the Blaston: Reloaded update also comes a new seasonal game mode, Street Brawl. Here duelists enter the Scrapper’s Street environment for a long distance 1v1 showdown using only the Cyber Bow and a modified Nova with an incredible speed boost to determine who is the fastest dodger and fiercest shot.

Blaston: Reloaded delivers even more new content and improvements than have been outlined above, including new legendary weapon and avatar skins, graphical improvements and UI enhancements. For a full list of changes, please visit https://reso.ly/blastonupdates.

NEXT-LEVEL COMPETITION: Esports
With the release of Blaston: Reloaded, Blaston is now feature-locked to ensure fair play for esports competition. While all content released to date will continue to remain a part of Blaston, future updates will focus on ensuring fair and balanced play to support the game’s growing focus on professional competition. Players are invited to continue to hone skills and join a new league of competitors in the esports arena.

Resolution Games has partnered with leading VR esports organization, VRML, to launch the first-ever officially-sanctioned Blaston esports competition, Blaston VR Master League. Season One kicks off in May. Interested players can sign up to be part of the inaugural season at http://vrml.com/Blaston.

“We’ve seen incredible growth in the VR esports space over the last five years, and things are just getting started,” said Alex 'Nightfiree' Tukey, Casting Coordinator and Board Member, Virtual Reality Master League. “As competitions have heated up, so has the appetite for different play experiences. The 1v1 dueling of Blaston, its physicality, and the unique weapon choices it offers all combine to make it an ideal game for professional competition. We can’t wait to see how some of the top teams approach this one!”

To help facilitate both coverage of esports events as well as friendly player-hosted tournaments, Resolution Games has also announced that it will launch the Blaston Spectator app for PC on May 5 as a free download. Available to wishlist on Steam beginning today, the Blaston Spectator app will provide a range of viewing options for audiences beyond the first-person view that is traditionally captured in-headset, and serves as an ideal capture companion for streamers and league organizers.
