Major social game developer Zynga (FarmVille, Mafia Wars) has opened a new development studio in Bangalore, India, where it plans to produce both games and underlying web architecture. The new office is the company's first location outside of the United States. Headquartered in San Francisco, it also operates a studio in Baltimore and just this month announced the formation of another studio in the Los Angeles area. Zygna is planning to staff up to a team size of about 100, mainly comprised of computer scientists and engineers. As a total organization, Zynga employs some 760 workers, according to the company's LinkedIn profile. Shan Kadavil, manager of the new Bangalore studio, said his office's focus "will be on building the next generation infrastructure that can handle the tremendous growth of Zynga games." Zynga operates several dozen games, primarily through social networks like Facebook. It claims to reach 70 million active users on a daily basis, and 235 million on a monthly basis.
