Ste Curran, creative director of Kuju Entertainment's Zoe Mode studio in Brighton and a host of the One Life Left game podcast, will deliver the keynote at the 2010 Global Game Jam international event in January, event organizers said today.
The Global Game Jam, run by the International Game Developers Association, is a unique event that takes place simultaneously in 31 countries. Over the course of its two days, impromptu teams are given a shared theme and must develop games on the spot. At the end of the event, the games are presented and posted online.
Last year's event, the first Global Game Jam, was hosted at 53 venues worldwide. According to the
official website, that number has been more than doubled this year, with 115 locations. It will take place from January 29 to January 31.
Last year's Jam generated 370 games created by 1,650 participants, who filled the roles of designers, artists, coders, and more, across both the professional and hobbyist spheres.
"With more sponsors coming on board and showing their support, and Ste Curran giving the keynote, we’re looking at a bigger and even better event in 2010," said event founder Susan Gold.
