Wireless tech company Zeemote is today launching a developer contest called Zeemote Ready, challenging developers to create games that use its JS1 Bluetooth Mobile Gaming Controller.
Entrants can use the Zeemote Ready SDK to develop a new title, or can also submit modifications of existing titles. Submitted games must feature either full analog joystick control or simultaneous multiplayer.
Zeemote is offering a total of $10,000 in cash prizes, and will deliver winning games to its handset partners who offer the Zeemote JS1. Recent partnerships the company has formed include Nokia, Sony Ericsson and RIM, and it also has partnerships with publishers Electronic Arts, Gameloft and Glu and network operators including T-Mobile and Vodafone.
The JS1 is currently available in Europe and Latin America, and Zeemote plans 2009 product rollouts for the U.S., UK, South America, Asia and other European regions.
"Our goal in 2009 is to continue to advance the revolution in mobile gaming by delivering even more Zeemote Ready titles to gamers," says CEO Ernie Cormier. "This contest empowers our developers to take Zeemote Ready Games to the next level by taking full advantage of the Zeemote JS1’s unique capabilities such as analogue controls or the ability for simultaneous multiplayer gaming."
