Vancouver-based digital distribution company Yummy Interactive has announced the launch of GameShield, a copy protection and license management software suite geared for game publishers and developers.
GameShield contains a suite of product licensing, management and protection tools for the game industry, and the company says its protection features can be embedded into the game code and/or wrapped around an existing product.
The company says its wrapping technology, called IronWrap, acts as a mini operating system that wraps around a game program like a shield without altering the source code.
GameShield can also allow developers to generate a single build for both retail and online markets across which updates, expansion packs and patches can be deployed.
GameShield includes a New Project Wizard to configure licensing, IronWrap, and activation functionality. Set-up steps include multiple language support, HTML user-interfaces, debugging and fingerprinting functions and CheckPoint License Server, which automates online activations.
Yummy Interactive CEO Nick Mellios commented, “No other Digital Rights Management software provides GameShield’s extreme range of powerful and flexible game-dedicated tools to protect what matters most to the game industry: their intellectual property. GameShield is all about monetizing game content - by protecting it from illegal use, but without making it difficult or frustrating for purchasers to install and play.”
