Japanese new sites are reporting that the Xbox will receive a further price cut to ¥16,800 ($155) in the country. The move will apparently accompany a new bundle featuring Project Gotham Racing 2, Halo, a two-month Xbox Live trial and a DVD playback kit for ¥19,800 ($183).
This cut will place the Xbox below the PS2, whose price it currently matches at ¥24,800 ($229), but still above the GameCube at ¥18,800 ($174).
Sales for the week ending October 19 saw the Xbox grab only 0.57% of the Japanese console market – a market share below the PS one and only 0.02% above the now discontinued Bandai WonderSwan Crystal.
