Xbox Delayed in Europe

Microsoft is pushing back the European Xbox launch, originally scheduled for the end of 2001, to as late as March of 2002.
The company characterizes the change in date as a proactive effort to avoid the product shortages that have plagued Sony’s Playstation 2 launch. “The demand for Xbox is so high that we have revised our forecasts and we feel that we can ship many more units this way,” explained Microsoft’s Sandy Duncan, “The downside is that the launch will miss Christmas 2001 in Europe, but this is not a problem.”
