The Georgia Institute of Technology will host the Living Game Worlds symposium again this year to again highlight digital designers and theorists, and is again featuring a rare appearance from The Sims creator Will Wright. The second edition of the symposium will be held at the Technology Square Research Building at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA, on February 16th, according to the Living Game Worlds' official website. The first symposium, presented in 2005, was to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its Digital Media Degree program, as well as to honor Will Wright, whose work inspired the topic of the symposium. Games such as Sim City and The Sims were early applications of the "community, simulation and the future of entertainment" theme that the symposium will discuss. The Living Game World site lists a number of participants, headlined by keynote speakers Will Wright, returning from last year's event, and Dale Herigstad, the executive creative director of Schematic. Other presenters include Ian Bogost, Janet H. Murray, Ralph Koster, Johnny L. Wilson, Matt Hullum, and more. Registration is currently open at the Living Game Worlds 2006 site, along with a full list of presenters, directions to the facilities, and a schedule of events.
