Will Wright Partners With Science Channel

Spore and Sims creator Will Wright has signed an agreement with the Science Channel to produce programming for the cable network, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wright is known in the game industry for the systemic and scientific way that he approaches game design. "I want to take the way he engages an audience in gaming and bring that into a show," said Debbie Myers, general manager at the Science Channel. Wright added, "Gaming is a rich and compelling way to tell a great story. I am so excited to bring that mind-set to TV projects." The Hollywood Reporter said that the partnership with Wright reflects an initiative at the Science Channel to include more creativity-focused programming. The network recently signed a deal with film director Steven Spielberg to create a documentary about rebuilding the World Trade Center site. After leaving Spore publisher Electronic Arts last year, Wright also said he'd concentrate more effort on his Stupid Fun Club, an "entertainment think tank" that explores everything from games to robot design.
