As part of its weekly update, Nintendo has released one new title, SPOGS Racing from developer D2C Games, to its WiiWare service. The Virtual Console is also receiving Neo Geo fighting/wrestling game King of the Monsters.
Nintendo has updated its North American WiiWare shop with one new title, SPOGS Racing from developer D2C Games (pictured). The company has also added Neo Geo fighting/wrestling game King of the Monsters to its Virtual Console offerings. SPOGS Racing features racers that can be customized using in-game images and vehicle parts - with players able to steal upgraded parts from opponents with the title's "Crash N' Grab" feature. The arcade racer provides 12 different tracks, six weapon power-ups, and three game modes, which include Quick Race, Crash N' Grab battle mode, and Season Mode. Though D2C Games hasn’t yet announced any plans to bring SPOGS Racing to either Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network, studio founder and Madden veteran Scott Orr has revealed that the game will eventually be available for PC and PlayStation Portable. Originally released in 1991 by SNK for the Neo Geo (later ported for the SNES and Genesis by Takara, then included in PSP/Wii/PS2 anthology SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1), King of the Monsters allows players to choose from six giant monsters and fight in seven major Japanese cities. Along with the player-versus-computer mode, multiplayer options allow up to two players to enjoy one-on-one matches and two-on-two tag-team matches against the computer. The two games are are available for download on North America's Wii Shopping Channel, priced at 1000 Wii Points ($10) SPOGS Racing and 900 Wii Points ($9) for King of the Monsters.
