Nintendo has updated its
Japanese plans for the Wii's Virtual Console, revealing that both Neo Geo and MSX games will debut for the download service this year, also revealing new Japanese Virtual Console games for March along the way.
Thus far, it's been confirmed that MSX titles
Aleste and
Eggy will debut for the service in Japanese territories, However, no Neo Geo titles have specifically been announced yet - though a license with SNK for the hardware would imply that the majority of the top Neo Geo games (from
Metal Slug to the
King Of Fighters series) might be available for licensing to the service.
The company also confirmed its Japanese Wii VC line-up for March, and highlights for the NES include
Excitebike and
Lode Runner, with the Super Nintendo receiving Konami's
Legend Of The Mystical Ninja and, most interestingly for those looking at publisher support, Square Enix's
Actraiser.
Sega's Genesis support for March in Japan includes titles such as
Sonic Spinball, Wonder Boy in Monster World, and
Bonanza Bros., and the Turbografx/PC Engine also receives some new titles, including an iteration of the popular Japanese wrestling series in
Fire Pro Wrestling Combination Tag.
As is customary, none of the above titles have been confirmed for Western release, with Nintendo preferring to pick specific region-appropriate titles for North American and European release.
